An Afterthought

I know that I already posted our season finale for Mexico, but after returning home I realized that I had some pictures on my phone from our long journey home that I wanted to share. Additionally, being home is a lot of hard work that I needed an occasional break from—and sitting down to write a bit filled the ticket.

Our first big passage brought us back to Mazatlán where we had friends waiting to fill our days with fun while waiting out the next weather window to continue north. James and Deena were busy readying their boat for the big splash back into the water after several dry years…but not too busy to invite us to their condo for some food, drink, and playing in the pool. So, we boarded the bus with Frank and Patsy for a drive to the other end of town.

Where Patsy and I had way too much fun playing in the pool!

We weren’t the only ones enjoying the pool!

But don’t worry, as you can see a fun time was had by all, (except for Lily who was more than ready to go home by the time we took this picture). You see, she did not appreciate at all being left alone in the second-floor condo while we were all having a great time by the pool where dogs were not allowed—the nerve! Jim went to give her a potty break and made the mistake of bringing her to the pool for a moment. After she knew where we were, she was determined to make a great escape. She jumped up on a chair to get on the half wall on the back patio where she jumped onto the roof of the downstairs patio. She didn’t quite think it all the way through however, because someone “rescued” her from the roof before she convinced herself to make the final, long jump to the ground. From the pool I say, “that lady has a dog that looks like my dog…hey, that is my dog!” Fortunately for me, Jim was not in the pool, so he had to endure the rescuer’s scorn when collecting Lily.

On the way home after a full day of drinking and swimming, one of these boys had an idea to stop off for a nightcap and dancing. Lily was so tired! (But at least she got to be with us.)

While in Mazatlán, the timing was just right for the long-anticipated splash of SV Nellie Joe, our sister ship owned by our good friends James and Deena. We were so happy to be able to attend this great event. What a happy day for all—it is always exciting when someone (friends or strangers) get to put their boat in the water—the epitome of upcomming adventures in lands waters unknown!

Here are a few of our favorite pictures from our evening walkabouts while in Mazatlân:

Time to say goodbye to our friends in Mazatlán. Lily already has her gaze set off to sea...

Half-way from Mazatlán to Topolobampo we were treated to a beautiful morning sky.

We made it to Topolobampo to rest and wait for a decent weather window for our final big hop back to Guaymas. Here are a few of the reason why we love it there:

And one of the reasons Lily loves it here:

As we left Topolobampo, we enjoyed the sun rising before a thick, wet layer of fog rolled in.

Low visibility made getting out through the channel a bit unnerving. It didn’t take long before the fog started breaking up, and we were treated to a rainbow…fogbow? Anyway, it was a first for us to see a rainbow from the fog, and it was beautiful—the pictures just don’t do it justice at all.

 Untill next time....

Lily deserves a pool of her own.
