The weather is warmer, the water is warmer, we can get to several places in just a short hop, and we are seeing more life in the water. We lots of floating/swimming crabs which seem out of place so far from shore, mantas floating just below the surface with their wing tips poking out of the water, turtles floating along sunning their shells, and whales. We visited Chacala (a new favorite anchorage that we particularly enjoyed), Punta de Mita (which also has grown exponentially since our last visit), and La Cruz (where we met up with our friends from Nellie Jo again and enjoyed the "marina experience"). As a side note, the La Cruz Marina, though very nice, was built since our last visit and used to be an anchorage--mixed feelings! We were in no real hurry and enjoyed our time on the mainland side, but were eager to cross over to the Baja side of the Sea of Cortez. So we slowly worked our way back up the mainland to Mazatlan where we would start our 40 hour crossing.
